Client Profile: Jersey Rehab, P.A. was founded in 1993 by Dr. Edwin M. Gangemi, a board certified physiatrist. Jersey Rehab P.A. provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for neuromusculoskeletal disorders.
Jersey Rehab is a multi-specialty group of board certified physicians, physical therapists, sports trainers and in-house care personnel with expertise in musculoskeletal sports medicine suited for healthcare needs today and beyond.
Jersey Rehab successfully treats a wide range of traumatic and non-traumatic physical ailments. Their main objective is to provide the highest quality rehabilitative services which are both appropriate and affordable. Using a team approach, the doctors, therapists and staff service strive to restore each patient to optimal health and well-being. A completely individualized therapeutic program is designed utilizing the most advanced combination of treatments available.
Background: Prior to hiring Accounteks.Net, Jersey Rehab was on an ISDN connection to link to daisy-chained office systems. Jersey Rehab soon realized that if one location in the chain lost its connection, the other locations would soon follow. Additionally, new locations could not be brought online due to the latency of the ISDN links.
To introduce efficiencies, Accounteks.Net replaced the original network with a Citrix Metaframe XP solution in conjunction with a Windows 2000 domain. To compliment this new infrastructure, Accounteks.Net also implemented a Cisco PIX VPN solution, utilizing a mixture of T1 at the main headquarters, and DSL and ISDN for the remote locations.
The star configuration minimized downtime, which led to greater productivity. By replacing outdated computers with desktop alternatives such as Neoware Thin Clients, Jersey Rehab realized lower hardware and maintenance costs and gained higher reliability and performance.
Jersey Rehab now has the capability for users to share more data between offices. Their legacy system can be accessed from all locations, as well as a centralized location for all patient notes regarding their physical therapy sessions. In the past, physical therapy notes were mailed or couriered to the various locations if a patient wished to attend sessions at another location. Today, patients can visit any of the several Jersey Rehab locations in New Jersey and New York, and their records can be easily accessed.
Accounteks.Net is currently in the process of making Jersey Rehab a paperless office. With the implementation of WORLDOX, a multi-award-winning Document Management System which incorporates document management and email management, medical assistants will have the capability of archiving patient charts, insurance claims, and other essential and confidential information. WORLDOX will give Jersey Rehab the ability to retrieve patient information faster, with full-indexed searches, utilizing Adobe’s latest OCR server engine.
Accounteks.Net is also installing Panasonic IP cameras in Jersey Rehab’s physical therapy rooms for insurance purposes. The IP cameras allow administrators to centrally monitor activities at all locations via a simple web browser. All the images are archived to disk subsystems and simply retrieved if required.
